Mediocrity
At the risk of being verbally accosted by my wife let me throw out this bit of political observation. Please be aware that I profess no expertise in politics and most of the time I wish I could do without the whole lot of it.
Is it just me or did Barack Obama's choice of Joseph Biden make his campaign a lot lamer and John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin made his a lot cooler?
Now we have a horse race!

If by "cooler" you mean "more frightening" and "much more of a threat to women's rights", then you're right. But maybe you just mean "better looking".
Biden is a putz - how long before he puts his foot in his mouth? And, he certainly doesn't add any eye candy. But at least he didn't charge the violated women of his community for their own rape kits.

I'm completely flummoxed by the buzz Sarah Palin is creating. Yes, she's a woman, but boy-howdy do I disagree with most everything she stands for.

Political Perspective
Personally, I hate political seasons. Too divisive for my people-pleaser tastes. As I result, I have to keep reminding myself of the truth Chuck Colson spoke (and quoted famously in one of Steven Curtis Chapman's songs):
"Where is the hope? I meet millions of people who feel demoralized by the decay around us. The hope that each of us has is not in who governs us, or what laws we pass, or what great things we do as a nation. Our hope is in the power of God working through the hearts of people. And that's where our hope is in this country. And that's where our hope is in life."
